La Porte County, IN – Two children were killed in a fatal crash on Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Joliet Road and CR 900 West.
According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred when a black 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Luis De Leon Muniz, 41, of Justice, Illinois, disregarded a stop sign and collided with a red 2011 Ford F250 pickup truck driven by Casey L. Krivak, 47, of La Porte. Both drivers sustained upper body injuries and were taken to area hospitals.
The Chevrolet’s passengers included Norma Atempa, 36, who was hospitalized with upper body injuries, a 16-year-old female airlifted to a regional hospital, and an 11-year-old male and a 4-year-old female who were pronounced dead at the scene.
Toxicology tests are pending, and no further information is available at this time. Multiple law enforcement and emergency response agencies assisted at the scene.
