VILLA PARK, IL – Tragedy struck early morning on Thursday when a head-on collision involving two vehicles occurred near the intersection of Route 83 and Washington.
Villa Park police were alerted to the scene at approximately 12:44 am. According to the preliminary investigation, a Hyundai Elantra was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 83, resulting in a catastrophic crash with a northbound Honda Odyssey.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 35-year-old male from Chicago, was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital but was tragically pronounced deceased. Similarly, the driver of the Honda, a 69-year-old male from Bensenville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities suspect that speed and alcohol might have played a role in this devastating collision. The Villa Park Police Department, together with the Major Crash Reconstruction Team (MERIT) and the DuPage County Coroner’s Office, are currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
