NEW LENOX – The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve has created its first-ever virtual toy drive this year to aid in donations for the annual Toys for Tots campaign. Additionally residents in New Lenox can now drop off donations for the program at any of the area’s four fire stations.
“We are happy to once again support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve with their Toys for Tots Program,” said New Lenox Deputy Fire Chief Dan Turner. “This year the Toys for Tots program is seeing an increase in children needing support. We are hoping to be able to exceed the more than 500 toys we were able to collect last year for less fortunate children in our area with the help of our district’s residents.”
The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
“As we are all doing our best to stay healthy during these times, we are encouraging anyone who would like to donate, but cannot do it in person, to go to the donation website,” said Deputy Chief Turner.
