The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced a temporary closure on U.S. 136 in Veedersburg, stretching from Maple Street to U.S. 41, set to commence on or after Tuesday, April 9. This closure is part of an extensive project aimed at enhancing the roadway through asphalt laying and curb and gutter work. The initial full closure of this segment is expected to last until sometime this summer, followed by single-lane closures from Mill Street to U.S. 41, where traffic will be managed by flaggers.
The entire project is slated for completion in the fall, although the timeline is dependent on weather conditions and may be subject to adjustments. During the full road closure, a detour will be in place directing traffic to use I-74 from exit 4 to exit 15.
INDOT urges drivers to plan for alternative routes during the closure period and to exercise caution while navigating through the flagging operations, emphasizing the importance of driver safety throughout the construction phase.
