Vermillion County, IN – In a dramatic turn of events, a traffic violation escalated into a high-speed chase exceeding 130 mph on State Road 63, culminating in the arrest of Justyn Culotta, a 25-year-old from Chicago.
According to the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department, the incident unfolded on March 7, 2024, when Master Trooper Chuck Murphy attempted to stop a black Chevy Cruze for speeding at 95 mph in a 60-mph zone. However, the situation rapidly intensified as Culotta fled, igniting a pursuit that saw speeds soar over 100 mph before mechanical failures brought the vehicle to a halt.
Culotta and the passengers were apprehended without incident, facing charges that highlight the grave risks of such reckless behavior. Culotta’s charges include resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, a Level 6 felony, reckless driving, and operating without a license. Additional charges were brought against the passengers for drug possession.
