Vernon Hills, IL – The Vernon Hills Police Department has issued a traffic alert for drivers using Route 60 over the Des Plaines River Bridge.

Starting April 4, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will begin extensive repair work on the bridge, including joint repairs and overlaying a new deck. This necessary maintenance will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction, expected to last between eight to ten weeks, depending on weather conditions.

Motorists are advised to anticipate delays and are urged to drive with caution through the construction zone.
