FRANKFORT – The Will County Historical Preservation Commission is celebrating the 185th Birthday of Will County Tuesday.
“On this day in 1836, an act was passed creating the County of Will out of parts of Cook, Iroquois and Vermilion Counties. At that time, Will County also included the northern part of what is currently Kankakee County.” said the Will County Historical Preservation Commission in a statement posted to Facebook Tuesday.
Will County was named in honor of Dr. Conrad Will, a local physician, businessman, and politician. Its boundaries have gone unchanged now since 1853, when Kankakee County was formed.
