Will County, IL – An urgent weather alert has been issued for Will County, Illinois, highlighting a heightened risk of severe weather conditions tonight, between 5pm and 11pm.

According to the US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois, residents should brace for scattered thunderstorms, capable of producing destructive hail, damaging winds, and possible tornadoes. Following this, a drastic shift to extreme cold is forecasted for tomorrow, 3/28/2024, from 3am to 8am, with blowing snow and wind gusts reaching 30-40 mph, significantly reducing visibility and creating hazardous road conditions.

Residents are urged to stay alert by ensuring they have multiple methods to receive emergency alerts, especially during overnight hours, and to be prepared to take immediate action. In the event of tornadoes, seeking shelter in the lowest level or most interior room of a building is advised.

For those in need of warmth, a list of warming centers can be found at the Will County Emergency Management Agency’s website.
