Will County Man Dies Following Pedestrian Collision in Crosswalk with City-Owned Vehicle

Joliet, IL – A Will County man has died following a collision involving a Joliet city-owned vehicle driven by a city employee. Hector Castillo, 75, was pronounced dead on Thursday at 3:35 p.m. at Ascension St. Joseph’s Medical Center.

According to the Will County Coroner, Castillo sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash that occurred on Wednesday at 11:03 a.m. Joliet Police reported that a city utilities employee, 54, from Elwood, was driving a city-owned Ford F350 pickup truck when it struck Castillo in a crosswalk at East Cass Street and Herkimer Street.

Joliet Police are investigating the incident. Anyone with information or video footage is urged to contact the Traffic Unit at 815-724-3193.
