Nashville, TN – A Nashville man was arrested on a criminal homicide charge after a young child died under suspicious circumstances earlier this week.

Keith Swanson, 25, was taken into custody by Metropolitan Nashville Police Department Violent Crimes detectives for the death of 22-month-old Myrikle Belin, who died Monday.

According to police reports, Swanson called 911 early Monday morning from a Riverside Drive home, reporting the child as unresponsive. Emergency services transported Myrikle to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.

An autopsy revealed she suffered from blunt force trauma, with internal injuries including scalp lacerations and brain swelling.

Detectives noted significant bruising on the toddler’s face, head, and chest. The child’s aunt, who is also Swanson’s girlfriend and her legal guardian, stated she had left for a college class Monday morning when the child was still awake and seemed well. Swanson’s bond has been set at $250,000, and the investigation is being led by Detective Chris Beery of the Youth Services Division.
