Nashville, TN – A tragic incident at a Nashville birthday party led to the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Barrington Moore by his 15-year-old cousin, Darrin Fleming.
According to police reports the event took place Thursday night at a short-term rental in the 900 block of Youngs Lane, where Fleming was attending a celebration. Under the terms of his Juvenile Court probation, Fleming was required to be home by 8 p.m. However, it wasn’t until after 9 p.m. that Moore arrived to take him home, complying with a request from Fleming’s mother.
Upon arriving, Moore found Fleming hiding in a closet, attempting to evade his curfew. The discovery triggered a confrontation between the cousins, culminating in Fleming allegedly firing a pistol during the altercation. Moore was critically injured in the shooting and was transported by ambulance to Skyline Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, Fleming admitted to the shooting and was charged with criminal homicide. He has since been booked into a juvenile detention center, awaiting further proceedings.
