Lake County, IL – Flooding continues across Lake County today as river levels remain elevated following last week’s heavy rainfall, with impacts expected to intensify through midweek.

According to the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission, waterways including the Fox River, Des Plaines River, and Chain O’Lakes are still experiencing high water levels, with additional runoff flowing in from Wisconsin contributing to ongoing flood conditions. While drier weather is expected this week, water levels may take days to recede.

Officials say the Chain O’Lakes area is المتوقع to enter moderate flood stage by Tuesday morning, with water levels potentially reaching major flood stage by Wednesday and Thursday. Areas near Fox Lake, as well as surrounding low-lying properties, could see increasing impacts during this time.

The Lower Fox River near Barrington is also forecast to reach major flood stage early Tuesday, with peak levels expected midweek. In contrast, the Des Plaines River near Gurnee appears to have already peaked and is المتوقع to begin slowly declining starting Monday.

In Lincolnshire, the Des Plaines River remains in moderate flood stage but could still climb higher before cresting. Officials caution that some locations may experience prolonged flooding, with elevated water levels lasting up to one to two weeks before fully receding.

Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to remain alert and monitor local forecasts, particularly across Lake County, the northern Chicago metro area, and surrounding communities. Officials continue to monitor conditions closely and will provide updates as needed.
