Salvation Army offers VITA

The Salvation Army in Kankakee will begin offering Volutneer Income Tax Assistance in preperation for the coming Tax Season.

The program offers both free tax preperation and e-filing and is targeted and individules making $54,000 or less on their own tax returns. These IRS-certified volunteers will begin providing basic income tax return preperation with electronic filingn to the qualified individuals.

The walk-in VITA site offers no appointments and is on a walk-in basis. They ask that you bring a photo ID, social security or ITIN cards for individuals, spouces and dependants, all W-2 and 1099 forms; Information for other income and information for all deductions/credits. It’s encouraged to bring a copy of last year’s returns with you on your visit as well.

The VITA program begins Monday, Feb 4th. Monday-Thursday, 9:30am-3:30pm, and Saturdays 9:30-1pm. The program will run through Monday, April 15th 2019.
