Dog Dies in Fire on National Dog Day in New Lenox

NEW LENOX – A dog has died in a residential fire early this morning.

The New Lenox Fire Protection District reports a residential fire that broke out in the kitchen of a home located in the 900 block of Lake Road Wednesday.  New Lenox Fire officials received the call shortly before 6 am and had the fire under control in the residence within 10 minutes of arrival. 

“All the occupants were able to get out of the home safely, however, the family did lose one of their dogs.” Marisa Schrieber, Public Information Officer for New Lenox Fire Protection District said Wednesday. August 26th is celebrated as National Dog Day.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
