Lombard Significant Gas Leak Shuts Down Some Area Streets, Businesses Evacuated

UPDATE – Oct 2nd, 11:10 am: Lombard residents and businesses receive a sigh of relief as Nicor successfully completes initial repairs on the earlier reported gas leak on St. Charles Road. The Lombard Police have given the all-clear signal, assuring businesses and homeowners in the affected zones that it’s now safe to return.


Lombard, IL – Due to a construction error related to the downtown sidewalk project, a notable gas leak has forced the closure of St. Charles Road from Main St to Elizabeth St. Nicor teams are actively addressing the situation on-site.

For safety measures, a large segment of the area, including businesses and homes between Orchard Terrace to Michael McGuire Dr, especially along St. Charles Rd from Main St to Park Ave, are being evacuated. Local police are advising residents and visitors to stay away until further updates.
