Kankakee County, IL – Families with students in Kankakee County public schools now have access to free individual counseling services, thanks to a grant obtained by Bourbonnais Elementary School District 53 (BESD 53) from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).

This initiative, in partnership with the Iroquois Mental Health Center, aims to support the mental health needs of students and their family members residing in the same household.

According to the announcement, these counseling services are available to any family member, provided they have a student enrolled in one of the twelve public school districts in Kankakee County. The sessions can be conducted in person at one of the two Iroquois Mental Health facilities in the county or remotely via phone or telehealth options.

The service is free for the families, with BESD 53 handling the invoicing. This offer is valid through June 30, 2024, or until the allocated funds are exhausted. The program allows for regular sessions if necessary, with the caveat that future appointments might be canceled if funds run out. The announcement also included a list of codes for each school district to facilitate the payment process.

Families interested in this service should contact Kim Rabideau, Clinical Director, at 815-432-5241 Ext. 533, and provide the specific code for their school district to schedule appointments.  Here is the list of codes:
