Kankakee Kids allegedly Set Fire to Playground Equipment at Edison Elementary School

KANKAKEE, IL – Edison Elementary School is dealing with the fallout after a group of school-aged children allegedly set fire to playground equipment. 

The incident was reported via the Neighbors App at approximately 4:30 pm.  A video of the fire was posted via a neighbor to the Ring app as firefighters arrived on scene. The alarming footage shows flames near playground equipment. 

Local authorities were immediately alerted to the incident with Kankakee firefighters swiftly responded to the scene.

No injuries have been reported, but the incident raises concerns about the safety of public spaces and the behavior of young individuals. Authorities are investigating the matter to determine the motive behind this destructive act.

Residents in the area are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local authorities.
