Physicians Immediate Care announced this week they will begin testing for COVID-19 at all 34 of their Illinois locations.
Physicians Immediate Care is the only urgent care provider in Illinois with Abbot ID Now COVID-19 tests, which provide results in as little as five minutes for next to immediate testing results.
The new testing procedure works when a swab taken from a person’s nose or throat mixed into a chemical solution, which is analyzed and detects the COVID-19 genome within minutes. Abbott labs received FDA approval in late March and began shipping units shortly after. To date, nearly half a million units have shipped in the U.S.
Physicians Immediate Care says walk in or reserve your time online for testing. Previous testing facilities required you to wait in your car and call in advance.
