Retired Wilmington Police Chief James Metta dies

WILMINGTON – The Wilmington Police Department alerted residents Wednesday evening former Police Chief James Metta has died.

“We’ve learned that Chief Metta passed away on December 28, 2002 at age 71. Please pray for Chief Metta and his family during this difficult time.” Wilmington Police said in a statement posted to social media.

Wilmington Police will post an obituary once it becomes available.
