TINLEY PARK – Beginning tomorrow, a new mass vaccination site will begin administering appointment only vaccines inside the Tinley Park Convention Center.

“Thanks to the Illinois National Guard, the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Cook County Department of Public Health, this is now the seventh new vaccination site that we’ve set up across Cook County with similar efforts ramping up in Regions all across the state, with approximately 25 more National Guard teams set to launch in the next few weeks alone.” Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced Monday morning at the latest mass vaccination site.

Up to 9,000 vaccinations are expected to be administered at the Tinley Park site located at 18451 Convention Center Drive per week.  With up to 18,000 doses once the federal supply of vaccine increases. The Tinley Park site will offer the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine.

“This is just one of many locations that have been launched in partnership with local public health departments or pharmacies.  Widespread mass vaccination sites will allow us too quickly and efficiently get these life saving doses to Illinoisans as more federal shipments of vaccine come online.” Pritzker said Monday.

Illinois is now 6th in the nation in doses administered.  In Phase 1B, grocery store workers, teachers and people age 65 and over are a few of those newly eligible to receive the vaccine.

Those eligible will be administered through appointment only due to the limited supply of the vaccine.

“Every state in the nation is experiencing this same shortage.  It’s another example of the Trump Administration’s tragic incompetence that they didn’t evoke the Defense Production Act, and didn’t order more vaccine from the manufactures.  Well we have a new President now and he has already taken steps to expand vaccine manufacturing and in the meantime, Illinois has taken the steps necessary to be ready with sites like here in Tinley Park to vaccinate as soon as those expanded shipments arrive.” Pritzker added.

The Vaccine Hotline can be reached at 833-308-1988, or you can find your nearest site in Illinois online through Illinois’ vaccine locator site here.
