CHICAGO – One month ago, some residents gathered for the largest US holiday with some celebrating with family and friends, 6,301,845 newly confirmed cases have been registered in the country.
It’s a daily average of 203,285 cases per day in America.
For perspective, that’s an average of 8,470 cases per hour, or 141 newly confirmed cases per second. Among those cases 89,970 deaths due to the pandemic, or 2,902 deaths per day.
For a greater perspective, 2,996 people died from terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001, just 94 shy of what has become regularly daily deaths toll in American brought on by the pandemic.
One year ago Sunday marked the first COVID-19 case reported in American.
Since the pandemic first arrived in our boarders, over 25.2 million cases have been reported, with 419k deaths. California, Texas, Florida, New York and Illinois rank in the top five for reported cases and deaths.
