Student allegedly punched by bike rider while walking, robbed of cell phone at U of I

URBANA – A student is recovering Monday after they were allegedly robbed of their phone by a passing Bike rider.

According to University of Illinois Police, it happened just before 10 a.m.  near Springfield and Wright streets.  The student was at the time walking on the sidewalk when he was approached by a person on a bike who allegedly punched him and took his phone.

The alleged assailant continued to ride north after the encounter.  The student was not injured in the incident.

Security cameras captured an image of the rider .  Anyone with information on the event is asked to contact University Police at 217-333-1216.
