INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The search for safe and affordable suburbs in the United States has led many people to consider Indiana, as three of its towns have made it onto the list of most affordable safe suburbs.
Carmel, Fishers, and Noblesville have been recognized for their impressive safety records and affordability, according to a recent study conducted by SmartAsset.
The study analyzed safety data for 370 suburbs of the 100 largest cities in the country, taking into account factors such as violent and nonviolent crime rates, roadway safety, and drug and alcohol abuse within the communities. It also compared the affordability of these safe areas, considering median annual housing costs as a percentage of median household income.
Carmel, Indiana emerged as the most affordable of the safest suburbs in America. With a median annual housing cost of $18,048, households in Carmel spend only 15.07% of their median household income on housing. Fishers, another Indiana town, ranked closely behind, with median housing costs accounting for just 15.59% of the median household income.
Not only are these Indiana suburbs affordable, but they also boast excellent safety records. Carmel, Fishers, and Noblesville secured second, fourth, and fifth place, respectively, among the overall safest suburbs in the country.
These communities are known for their low rates of violent crime, with Carmel having a violent crime rate of 48.29 incidents per 100,000 residents.
The study also highlighted the outstanding safety records of other suburbs across the nation. Great Falls, Virginia, a suburb of Washington D.C., topped the list as the nation’s safest suburb. With a median household income of $250,000, Great Falls also emerged as the wealthiest suburb among the top 35 safest suburbs.
Bethesda, Maryland, another suburb of Washington D.C., ranked third on the list of safest suburbs. It boasts a low percentage of people engaging in excessive drinking, which contributes to its overall safety.
The study revealed that suburbs of Boston have the lowest rates of deadly car accidents, with Lexington, Somerville, and Chelsea, Massachusetts, ranking among the top four in this category. Meanwhile, Utah and Oklahoma suburbs were found to have the lowest percentage of heavy drinkers.
Safety is a key consideration for individuals and families when choosing a place to live, and the affordability of a suburb is also a significant factor. The inclusion of Carmel, Fishers, and Noblesville on the list of most affordable safe suburbs in the U.S. highlights the appeal of these Indiana towns for those seeking both safety and affordability.
As more people prioritize safety and cost-effectiveness in their housing choices, the recognition of these Indiana towns as safe and affordable options may lead to an influx of new residents. The combination of low crime rates and reasonable housing costs make Carmel, Fishers, and Noblesville attractive destinations for those looking to settle down in a secure and budget-friendly community.
