KANKAKEE, IL – Get ready for a sizzling celebration of Independence Day as the south banks of the Kankakee River come alive with live music and fireworks on Tuesday, July 4.
This year’s event promises to be an extravaganza like no other, featuring three electrifying live music performances to set the stage on fire.
Starting at 4 p.m., the gates of Kankakee Community College will open to the public, with an admission fee of just $20 per carload. The best part? It’s all for a good cause! Every penny raised will benefit the esteemed Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra.
As you groove to the tunes, don’t forget to satisfy your taste buds with a mouthwatering array of food concessions. From Jimmy Jo’s BBQ to Martinez Tacos, Oberweis Ice Cream to Kankakee Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra Concessions, there’s something to satisfy every craving.
The excitement kicks off at 6 p.m. with a captivating performance by the Kankakee Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra. Feel the rhythm as they showcase their remarkable talent. Then, at 7 p.m., prepare to be blown away by the soul-stirring melodies of the Kankakee Municipal Band.
At 8 p.m., the stage will belong to the Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra, renowned for their harmonious symphonies that captivate audiences. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, get ready to witness a breathtaking fireworks spectacle at dusk, around 9:15 p.m., lighting up the night sky with an explosion of colors and awe-inspiring displays.
This pyrotechnic extravaganza promises to be a 25-minute extravaganza that will leave you breathless. Thanks to the generous underwriting by Riverside Medical Center, the KVSO symphony concert is a testament to the community’s dedication to the arts. Other sponsors include the Illinois Arts Council, Kankakee Valley Park District, the City of Kankakee, and KCC.
So grab your picnic blankets and chairs and head to KCC’s grounds, where you can enjoy a leisurely outdoor feast while immersing yourself in the soul-stirring melodies.
