3,599 new COVID-19 cases, 296 deaths in Illinois this week

On Friday, Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced 692 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 44 additional confirmed deaths. The announcement rounds out a week where Illinois saw 3,599 new cases and 296 total deaths since Sunday. 

Since Sunday, Illinois has averaged 599 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 49 deaths per day. The statewide positivity rate remains at 3%.

Since the pandemic began in March, IDPH has reported 135,470 cases, including 6,580 deaths, in 101 counties in Illinois.
