KANKAKEE – The County Health Department is redirecting all area residents to a new website in an effort to get vaccinated quicker.

The website, VaccineFinder.org, allows area residents to enter their zip code and find access to current providers within their area, allowing for scheduling of appointments.  Residents can find a pharmacy near them with their choice of the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID Vaccine and schedule the next available appointment in their area.

“Local availability is improving weekly,” County Health said in a release issued Friday.  “KCHD recommends accepting the first available appointment offered to you.”

Businesses with over 100 employees can also register to request an onsite clinic here.

Illinois entered Phase 1B+ of vaccination efforts in late February which allows manufacturing, grocery store and those with health aliments or over age 65 to be vaccinated. You can find out if you’re eligible during the registration process on VaccineFinder.org, or review the Illinois COVID-19 Vaccine Administration Plan here.

As of Monday, over 4.2 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been distributed in Illinois, including 166,464 in Region 7.
