Illinois announces 1,462 new COVID-19 cases Saturday, 61 deaths

Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today announced 1,462 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 61 additional deaths.  There have now been 5,330 deaths across 101 counties in Illinois to date from COVID-19.

In the last 24-hours, Illinois conducted over 25,343 tests.  There have now been 877,105 COVID-19 tests run in the state to date.  The current seven-day statewide positivity rate is at 7%.

Five of today’s deaths from novel coronavirus belonged to residents of Kankakee and Will Counties, including a woman in her 60s from Kankakee County, a woman her 80s in Will County, and three men in Will County ranging in ages 80s and 90s years old.
