SPRINGFIELD –Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported Monday morning 1,709 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 13 additional confirmed deaths.

Among new deaths reported Monday included seven Cook County residents, including one 30-year-old man. IDPH reported over 4,000 new additional cases of the virus since Saturday, including 39 additional deaths this past weekend.

It comes at a time when over 25 states are reporting an increase in numbers of new COVID-19 cases, including Wisconsin. One COVID-19 model projects the US could see as many as 3,000 deaths per day by late December.

As of Monday, the state’s seven-day positivity rate sat at 3.7%, that’s up .2% since last Monday. Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 289,639 cases, including 8,614 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years.
