Chicagoland Speedway cancels June 18-21st NASCAR Cup Weekend due to COVID-19

After working closely with public health officials, NASCAR and Chicagoland Speedway announced on Friday they have canceled NASCAR weekend at the Speedway this year.

As part of the NASCAR Cup Series weekend, races at the Speedway were originally scheduled for June 18th to the 21st.

“The difficult decision to realign our race events was a combination of where we fell on the schedule, proximity to NASCAR’s teams and the safety and well-being of our community and larger NASCAR industry,” said Chicagoland President Scott Paddock. “We will miss the roar of the engines at Chicagoland Speedway this season, but we will be rooting for and supporting our NASCAR colleagues at Darlington Raceway as competition returns on Sunday, May 17.”

Chicagoland Speedway is offering ticketholders to this year’s event a full credit, plus an additional 20% of the total amount paid towards future race events.

NASCAR is set to return on May 17th at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina.
