Georgia Man’s Racial Attack Could Cost Him 10 Years, $250K Fine After Firing at Neighbor

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Mark Wheeler, 73, is facing the possibility of a decade in prison and a $250,000 fine following an alleged racially-motivated assault on his Black neighbor. 

According to FBI reports, Wheeler allegedly shot a .22 caliber revolver in the direction of the victim’s residence while hurling racial slurs. He has since been charged under the Fair Housing Act’s criminal provision and for firearm misuse. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge. 

The alarming incident, revealed by FBI Atlanta Field Office officials, is now the focus of an FBI Atlanta Field Office inquiry, with a dedicated legal team prepped for prosecution.
