Multiple Police Agencies Involved in Chicago Expressway Multi-Car Crash, Five Injured

Chicago, IL – Early Friday morning, a significant multi-car crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway involved multiple police agencies and resulted in five injuries, as reported by the Chicago Fire Department. 

The collision, which occurred in the outbound lanes near 87th Street, involved up to six vehicles, including squad cars from both the Chicago Police Department (CPD) and the Illinois State Police (ISP). The impact of the crash led to critical injuries for two CPD officers and one ISP trooper, who were transported to Advocate Christ Hospital. 

Additionally, two other individuals sustained injuries and were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition. Following the incident, all outbound lanes of the expressway were closed, causing significant traffic disruptions, but have since been reopened.
