Oak Park, IL – Mail Theft and Property Damage Surge in Oak Park

Oak Park, IL – Residents of Oak Park are on alert after a series of mail thefts and property damages. 

According to the Oak Park Police Department, several incidents involving stolen packages and vandalized mailboxes have been reported. The police summary report dated January 2, 2024, details multiple offenses including criminal damage to property and thefts of mail packages. 

In one incident, an unknown suspect used a pry tool to damage a vertical mailbox, causing an estimated $500 in damages. In separate thefts, unknown individuals removed packages containing various items, such as electronics and clothing, with losses estimated at $143 and $137 respectively. 

The authorities are investigating these incidents and have advised residents to take precautions with their mail and deliveries.
