JOLIET, Ill. — Willie Banks, 47, of South Chicago Heights, has been charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree murder, in connection with a home invasion in Joliet that resulted in the death of Alicia Cole, 40.

Joliet police reported the incident occurred on Wednesday night on Westshire Drive. Banks, who allegedly entered Cole’s home forcefully, was found by police inside the residence. Cole was discovered fatally shot in her bathroom.

Following his release from hospital treatment for injuries sustained during the invasion, Banks was charged by the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office and is now held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility. Authorities believe the incident was domestic in nature and isolated.
