Naperville, IL – Ammonia Leak in Restaurant Basement Leads to Injury

Naperville, IL – An ammonia spill in the basement of Ramsay’s Kitchen in Naperville prompted an urgent response from local hazardous materials teams on Monday night. 

The Naperville Emergency Communications Center dispatched responders to the scene at 39 W. Jefferson Ave shortly after receiving reports at 9:14 p.m. Rapid action by the fire department’s hazmat unit contained the spill, involving about one gallon of ammonia, within 30 minutes of their arrival. 

The restaurant was evacuated efficiently by staff prior to the team’s entry, ensuring the safety of patrons and other employees.Despite the swift containment, one individual was injured during the incident and subsequently transported to Edward Hospital in stable condition. 

The collaborative effort among Naperville Fire Department, Police, and several neighboring fire protection districts ensured no further injuries occurred. The building was cleared for re-entry after comprehensive ventilation and cleanup.
