OAK BROOK, Ill. – A Chicago man, Julius Ramsey, 41, was sentenced to 88 years by Judge Jeffrey MacKay this week after being found guilty of a assault on a female hotel worker in Oak Brook in 2019.

Ramsey forced the woman into a vacant room at the Hyatt House on 22nd Street, assaulting her multiple times at gunpoint. The quick investigative work by Oak Brook police led to the discovery of a matching firearm and DNA evidence.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin lauded the victim’s courage in testifying, emphasizing its role in Ramsey’s conviction. Ramsey will serve 85% of his sentence before possible parole eligibility.
