DeMotte, IN – A frantic 911 call led the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office to a gunshot victim seeking help at the Love’s Truck Stop near SR 10 and I-65 Friday afternoon.

According to Jasper County Sheriff’s deputies the victim, who was shot at a neighboring residence, luckily sustained non-life-threatening injuries. David Sholes, 32, from DeMotte, has been identified as the suspected shooter. As of now, both Sholes and the firearm remain elusive. Surrounding businesses and schools initiated lockdowns following the shooting as a safety precaution.

Jasper County’s S.T.S. Team has since been mobilized, executing several search warrants to locate Sholes. Residents are cautioned against direct confrontation and are urged to share any information they might have on www.jaspercountypolice.com or with local authorities.

The investigation continues, with the Sheriff’s Office ensuring community safety remains paramount.
