Northern Indiana, IN – In the wake of severe weather on Tuesday, the US National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has confirmed four tornadoes, including a long-path EF-1 tornado that traveled nearly 12 miles through Cass County, Michigan, just north of the state border. This tornado, reaching wind speeds of 95 mph, caused extensive damage, particularly around Twin Lakes where it snapped and uprooted hundreds of trees.
The National Weather Service also confirmed three additional tornadoes in the region, one of which was an EF-U that briefly touched down in a field north of W 100 N and west of W Landis Road in Steuben County, IN. The tornado dissipated quickly and did not cause any known damage. Other tornadoes included another EF-1 near Union City, MI, and one near Melrose, OH, each contributing to the widespread impact of the storms.
These confirmations follow extensive surveys and reports from affected areas. The National Weather Service is continuing its assessments and will provide updates as more information becomes available. Local communities are urged to stay informed and prepared for ongoing severe weather potential.
