Firefighter Suffers Minor Injury in $200,000 Zion House Fire Early Saturday Morning

Zion, IL – A firefighter sustained a minor injury while battling a house fire on the 3200 block of Gabriel Avenue early Saturday morning.

According to Chief Justin Stried, the fire, which started in the garage, caused extensive damage estimated at $200,000. Crews from Zion and neighboring areas responded to the alarm at 12:08 a.m., finding the two-story home engulfed in flames. All occupants managed to escape safely, with one family member treated for minor smoke inhalation. The injured firefighter was treated at Vista Medical Center.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities urge residents to ensure their homes have working smoke detectors.
