Illinois Motorcycle Rider Gravely Hurt After Attempt to Overtake Car Ends in Guardrail Crash

ELBURN, Illinois – A devastating motorcycle accident rocked the 4N600 block of Illinois Route 47 at 10:45 P.M. Tuesday night. 

According to Kane County Sheriff’s Office reports, Alexander J. Esparza, 22, from Elgin, Illinois, lost control of his 2020 black and white Harley Davidson after overtaking a vehicle at a high speed. 

The motorcycle reportedly veered off, slamming into a guardrail. Deputies rushed to provide first aid until medics were able to transport Esparza to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital. 

Esparza was later airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital due to the severity of his injuries. An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
