Illinois Nursing Home Resident Charged for Murder of Fellow Resident

JOLIET, IL – A resident of Will County’s Salem Village Nursing and Rehabilitation, William Paschall, 71, was arrested Friday night following a fatal altercation at the nursing home. 

Joliet Police Department reports say officers responded to the facility, located at 1314 Rowell Avenue, around 9:25 p.m., where they discovered an unresponsive 61-year-old male resident in the laundry room, tragically pronounced dead later. Paschall, accused of first-degree murder and aggravated battery to a person over 60, allegedly attacked the victim with multiple punches and used the victim’s walker to strike him, leading to his fall.

Facility staff and paramedics responded to the victim who later succumbed to injuries. The Will County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and determine the official cause of death.
