Springfield, IL – The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced Monday the launch of a statewide photo contest for photographers to showcase how transportation connects them with their communities.

From May 24 to June 7, Illinois residents can submit their favorite photos of roads, trails, airports, transit stops, bridges, or unique stretches of travel. According to IDOT, participants can enter by photographing transportation-related subjects and briefly explaining their significance. Entries will be judged on originality, beauty, and community impact.

Three finalists will be selected and featured online for public voting from June 14 to 17. The winning photo will be displayed on IDOT’s Facebook banner for a month.
