HAMPSHIRE TOWNSHIP, Ill. — A Kane County Sheriff’s Deputy is in critical condition following a head-on collision with a pickup truck towing a loaded trailer on Illinois Route 47, just south of Plank Road.
According to Kane County Sheriff’s Department reports the crash unfolded early Monday morning when the northbound truck veered into the deputy’s southbound lane after attempting to stop abruptly in traffic. Prompting an emergency airlift, the critically injured deputy was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital.
At least one occupant from the Dodge Ram has been taken to Ascension St. Joseph’s Hospital. Illinois State Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
