RUTLAND TOWNSHIP, IL – The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a harrowing accident that left a 37-year-old Gilberts man critically injured.

According to Kane County Sheriff’s Department reports it happened early Monday when the victim’s truck veered off McCornack Road, striking a tree and rolling over. The victim, ejected from the vehicle and with severe injuries, was located thanks to his cell phone’s 911 alert.

After initial treatment at Advocate Sherman Hospital, the man’s critical head and shoulder injuries necessitated his transfer to Park Ridge’s Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
