BOURBONNAIS, IL – Bourbonnais Township Park District has announced John Wilson as its new Interim Executive Director, effective from the December Board of Commissioners Meeting. Wilson, with a background in Parks and Recreation, is currently part of the Guest Relations team at the Chicago White Sox. He has previously served as the Director of Parks & Recreation at Lan-Oak Park District in Lansing, Illinois.
According to the Park District, Wilson’s tenure at Lan-Oak was marked by significant achievements, including major renovations of the district’s recreation center and the development of new neighborhood parks. One of his notable projects was the Pennsy Greenway Trail Project, a five-mile bike and pedestrian trail in Lansing.
Wilson expressed excitement about his new role, aiming to enhance the visitor experience at Bourbonnais Township Park District. His career, post-retirement in 2016, includes various consulting roles in Michigan and Illinois, and continued involvement in community park boards.
Dave Zinanni, Board President, praised Wilson’s dedication and experience, expecting him to be a valuable asset for the Park District. Wilson’s career spans over several decades, with key roles in multiple park districts across Illinois, showcasing his commitment to community and recreational development.
