Kankakee Officer Witnesses Car Hit Dumpster, Leads to Drug, Firearm Arrest

Kankakee, Illinois – A routine patrol in Kankakee led to a significant discovery early Sunday morning. 

According to reports an officer on duty in the 900 block of E. Station St. reportedly observed a car backing into a dumpster before driving away. The vehicle was later found a short time later by the officer in an alleyway. 

During a subsequent search, police reportedly found open alcohol containers, several packages of marijuana, a white powdery substance, and a loaded .38 caliber pistol in the vehicle. 

Officers arrested 34-year-old John Jefferson of Kankakee and an unidentified passenger on various alleged drug and gun charges. The incident remains under investigation.
