Human Remains Reportedly Discovered in Illinois Woods near Kickapoo Creek

Peoria County, IL – The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, led by Sheriff Chris Watkins, reported the discovery of human remains on Sunday near Kickapoo Creek. 

According to Peoria County Sheriff’s Department reports the remains were found around 11:15 a.m. in a wooded area of the 300 block of North Kickapoo Creek Rd. A male hunter, who was tracking a deer, reportedly stumbled upon the remains and identified authorities. 

While the identity of the remains is currently unconfirmed, Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood is expected to release information pending identification through dental records or other methods. Initial investigations by the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office have not indicated signs of foul play, but the case remains open and under investigation.
