Quad Cities, IA/IL – Areas of dense fog will be possible through the morning commute today, especially along and east of the Mississippi River. Visibility may be reduced to under a quarter mile at times.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service Quad Cities, motorists are advised to drive with caution. The morning fog will lift a few hours after sunrise, with mostly sunny skies and pleasant temperatures expected. Afternoon highs will reach the lower 80s area-wide.

Dry conditions and mostly sunny skies will continue into the weekend, with highs in the 80s each day. Recent rainfall in early May has improved the ongoing drought across Iowa, particularly south of I-80. There was a 12% decrease in drought coverage compared to last week. While the weekend will be dry, more rain chances return to the forecast next week.
