Zion, IL – Residents of Lake County are being warned about a water testing scam targeting the community.

According to Zion Police, an alleged marketing scheme from a water purification company involves hanging “testing packets” on properties. If residents complete the form, the company returns to collect the water sample and promotes their filtration products.

Officials ensure the county’s water supply is regularly tested and meets drinking water standards. The most recent report is available here. Residents are advised to request City Employee ID cards from anyone claiming to be a city employee checking water services.
