Lake County, IL – Palatine Man Critically Injured in Early Morning Traffic Accident

Lake County, IL – In an early morning tragedy, a Palatine man suffered critical injuries after his SUV collided with a tree in unincorporated Wauconda, Lake County. 

According to Lake County Sheriff’s Department reports the incident occurred around 4:40 a.m. at the intersection of Fairfield Road and Chardon Road. Deputies responded promptly to the scene, where they found a 2016 GMC Sierra had veered off the road under mysterious circumstances.

The 28-year-old driver, who was alone in the vehicle, had to be extricated by the fire department due to the severity of the crash. According to initial reports, the SUV was traveling southbound when it inexplicably crossed the center line, departed from the pavement, traversed a driveway, and struck a large tree head-on.

The victim was rushed to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, facing life-threatening injuries. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit is actively investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
