Illinois Teen Arrested After Throwing Cat from Car, Capturing Act on Snapchat

Brimfield, IL – A 16-year-old from Brimfield was arrested on animal cruelty charges after allegedly throwing a cat out of a moving vehicle and recording the act on Snapchat. 

According to Peoria County Sheriff’s reports the incident, which took place on Monday, has sparked widespread outrage in the community. Deputies were alerted to the situation on Tuesday when the Peoria County Animal Protective Services (PCAPS) found the deceased cat near the roadway at 19300 W. Route 150. Investigations revealed that witnesses had a Snapchat video showing the teenager throwing the very animal from the car. According to reports, the cat had been given to the teenager by a mutual friend of the original owner, who had moved out of the country.

Sheriff Chris Watkins confirmed that the teenager was interviewed by detectives and admitted to his actions. He was subsequently booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on charges of aggravated cruelty to animals and depiction of animal cruelty.
